Sue O’Donnell. 19.11.20
“The Spirit of the LORD shall be upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the LORD. His delight is in the fear of the LORD...With righteousness He shall judge and decide with equity for the meek of the earth.” (Isaiah 11 v 2, 3, 4)
Lord Jesus, it cost You everything
To live and die for us,
To gain forgiveness at the †,
So as to open the gates
To holiness.
By holiness You possess us.
By holiness You bless us.
Holiness is transformative
Reforming all within us,
The way we desire, decide,
All we think and say,
What we determine to do.
Holiness is discovered through Jesus,
As Lord Jesus, all lovingly,
Totally caring and self-giving,
You send us Your Spirit.
It is in the Spirit we awake
To holiness.
It is through the Spirit we learn to pray,
This being how we develop our awareness
Of the need for obedience,
If we are to pursue reverence.
The Spirit is our formation,
Or maybe our reformation,
If Lord Jesus, we met You formerly,
But have fallen away from Your company.
The Spirit enlists us to come back,
To pray and work so we no longer lack
Any of the requisites necessary,
For us to be counted as a family devoted
To holiness.
“My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise. Awake, my glory!” (Psalm 57 v 7, 8)
“I will praise You, O LORD, among the peoples; I will sing to You among the nations. For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens, and Your truth unto the clouds.” (Psalm 57 v 9, 10)
“Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Your glory be above all the earth.” (Psalm 57 v 11) Please continue to send us Your Spirit, released by the risen, ascended and glorified Lord Jesus, that we, Your family, be taught to pray. Come, Holy Spirit, please pray in us, that we be filled by You, guided and guarded by You, the Lord Jesus alive in us, all to the glory of God. Amen.
